- b. Additional viscosity recommendations for Kirkstall axles: Worm gear, below -25°C: SAE 80W, -25°C to -10°C: SAE 90, above 30°C: SAE 250. Spiral bevel and hypoid axles, below -25°C: SAE 75W, -25°C to -10°C: SAE 80W/80W-90, above 30°C: SAE 140/85W-140
