Lubricant / Capacity Notes

a. Minimum acceptable 'Standard' quality with reduced drain intervals shown. CG-4SH, E2, E3 may also be used with reduced drain intervals. CH-4, E5, EO CES 20071 or 20072 required for 'Premium' classification with extended drain intervals. From June 1998 E3 oils with additional M11 engine soot test requirement of CH-4 qualified for extended drain intervals. Obsolete CD/CE/CF oils can only be used on older production engines where above recommended oils are not available at reduced drain intervals
b. CF-4SG/CG-4SH minumum acceptable; the additional petrol engine performance level SG or SH is required for satisfactory lubrication of sliding tappets
c. Engine oil viscosity recommendations: -30°C to 0°C, 0W-30; -25°C to 20°C, 5W-30; -20°C to 20°C, 10W-30; -12°C to above 40°C, 15W-40. Monogrades: -20°C to -6°C, 10W; -10°C to 20°C, 20W; 4°C to 32°C, 30; above 10°C, 40. The use of monograde engine oils reduces oil change interval
d. >-12°C
e. Alternative recommendations, -25°C to 20°C: Contact with our Technical Team
f. Alternative recommendations, -20°C to 20°C: Qualube Endurasyn SS 10W-30
g. Alternative recommendations, >-12°C: Qualube Endurol 15W40 / Qualube Eurofleet 15W40 / Qualube Extremol 10W40

General Notes

1. Synthetic oils, API category III, are recommended for ambient temperatures consistently below -25°C. Synthetic engine oils of 0W-30 viscosity may be used where ambient temperature does not exceed 0°C. Mineral oils are preferred, synthetic or part synthetic oils must not be used for break-in
2. Friction modified oils must not be used unless evidence of satisfactory performance in Cummins engines can be substantiated. Special break-in oils should not be used
